Gathering Data & Speedtest Campaign

Hi Gents -

Hope everyone had a good Easter.

So I've contacted all my remaining Town Halls for the month and have told them that we should try to get a larger group together to actually take the survey and start gathering information.  I'm very excited about that - Colin, if you can give me something that says Final on it, as we discussed, I'm on it.  I can start as early as tomorrow.  What should our Goal be?  (200, 300, 5000?)

Also, I've purchased the Website, GOOD4GUAM, and intend on using it to host the link for the online test.  My thinking is that its easier for someone to go to Good4Guam, sounds good on radio, etc., and people get it.  I'll launch it as a public service site and offer it to intitatives that need polling and quick online surveys, and the online test will be the first.

So, can you give me the link again and I'll start tinkering with a design that we can all approve?

Thanks.

Dan

Lots of good town halls coming up

Gents -

Finally - breakthroughs!

I'm conducing the first townhall in Chamorro sometime next week - have done so by reaching out to the Guam Preservation Trust.  Still working on SPIMA, the government agency that oversees the centers for the aged - I simply cannot seem to get the individual village centers (or their commissioners) to commit.  They really aren't cooperative - such was the case with the town halls re: military build-up.

The Dept of Health & Social Services contacts suggested/offered assistance in facilitating a hospitality table at their food stamp section where people wait a long time for service and could easily participate in feedback sessions.  Next week, at any rate, I'll be conducting another town hall at their venue with a group that specifically works with children/families in need.

It's going well...yeah - we're getting some good feedback.

Will post pics of yesterday's town halls as soon as I find the wire to connect my camera to laptop.

Meetings with the Man'amku

Hi Tony -

Great to speak with you today.  To recap, I am working on a federal project to create a digital map of broadband service throughout the US and the territories.  Part of that process involves creating a written survey that is built around the real life situations of people here in Guam - therefore, while we write it, would like feedback from groups such as the man'amku.

The process is short and simple.  I come in, i bring food (donuts, lunch, etc) and we sit and talk about the proposed questions on the survey - things like does internet mean a lot to you? do you use it?  if so, who is your provider?  that sort of thing...

They don't have to fill anything out, i just take notes.  And I can speak to them in Chamorro too.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi Ed -

At this past Monday's lunch meeting, you referenced a WiFi service available in Tamuning and North.  Do you know what company offers it, and do you know what that service entails (modem, etc.)

Also...any word on the photographer?  We need the photos for documentation purposes required by the Feds.  Thanks.  See you Monday with the Social Service groups.

Also...can we(you and I) have a meeting with the Tech group at DOE?  I want to discuss a "I took the speed test" campaign with the kids.
