Town Hall, Guam Community College, February 28, 2012

6pm, 8 attendees
Group 1 (college)

Originally a dozen people were going to show, but only 5 attended.  This group is a class in visual communications.

This is the first of several focus groups I intend to have at educational outlets.
After discussing the results thus far, the comments were as follows:
  • Interestingly, the entire group was of Filipino descent and considered themselves Filipinos - they all had broadband service at home, but "worked" - meaning did school work - outside of the home as the software for their classes were not available to them outside of the classroom (Adobe suite, etc.)
  • 100% of the attendees received the internet bundled with cable and television.
  • None of them reported that cost was an issue in their broadband service.
  • 100% reported that the internet, according to their parents (who pay for the service), is to be used "for homework first."
  • 100% are MCV users.
I navigated the group through the online test.  Comments were:

  • "Hard to read" - the grey letters are difficult to distinguish against the dark sidebars
  • The "flow" of the test "wasn't natural" - the two pulldown menus seemed redundant.
  • One attendee did ask if he could put in any address.
